Laura’s Paris 2024 Olympic Diary – Day 1
THANK YOU just isn’t enough for 17.5 & smashing an Olympic record.
London 52 is one in a million. I’ve said it all along, he loves a crowd and I was just hoping that I hadn’t made a mistake saying that when I saw how big the crowd was! But he is a big show-off and he loved being in front of the palace with a lot of people cheering him on. I’m so lucky to be sat on a horse like that.
There is a lot of people involved in getting a score like that, and I’m the lucky one who gets to sit on him and enjoy the moment. From everyone back home, it’s a huge, huge team effort, just to get here, let alone do a performance like that.
There are too many people to thank individually, but the National Lottery have got us here, given us the opportunity to come and show us at our best, and for that we’re so grateful. I loved every second of it. What he’s done throughout my whole career is amazing and he just keeps on delivering. I’m just very, very grateful to him.
Team GB hold the overnight lead with a record-breaking first-phase score of 66.6
London 52 holds the individual lead with 17.5, another Olympic record in the process
Ros Canter and Lordships Graffalo sit sixth with 23.4, while Tom McEwen and JL Dublin are 11th with 25.8
