Ian has been Dressage training me since April 2018.  Ian Woodhead is one of the original founders of DHI, and has seen the brand evolve from its early days over 25 years ago. Originally from Grimsby, Ian has a background working with horses and was involved in the running of the family business, Weelsby Park Riding School, before he went to Talland Equitation to train under the expert eye of Mrs Sivewright.

Amongst his many equestrian achievements, Ian was the National Under 21 dressage trainer for 18 years, during which time the dressage pony team won ten European Championship medals. In 2004 Ian moved away from pure dressage and is now a well respected trainer for many top international event riders including Ros Canter, Nicola Wilson, Piggy French, Gemma Tattersall and many other British and Irish senior squad members.

In 2006 Ian was awarded the British Equestrian Federation, Medal of Honour, in recognition of his dedication to Coaching he continues to be a much sought after trainer and is currently the Official Dressage Team Coach for the Irish High Performance Eventing Team a position he has held since 2014.
